James Watt’s Workshop

The Science and Society Picture library has some excellent pictures of Steam Engineer James Watt’s Workshop and the Science Museum’s reproduction of it.

The Heathfield House workshop was photographed by J Willoughby Harrison in December 1924 before it was moved to the Science Museum at South Kensington in December 1924.

The Science Museum is plannning to open a new exhibition based on Watt’s attic workshop in 2010. The exhibition will explore manual creativity, science and business and aims to inspire whole new generations of James Watts by linking to new close-to-market models.
