Maritime Models, Instruments & Art Sale
Next month is a sale of Maritime Models, Instruments & Art. Charles Miller will be hosting the sale in Kensington on Wednesday 28th April 2010.
There is a good selection art work, model ships and navigational equipment.
One of my favourites is lot 193 W. JONES: A NEW PORTABLE ORRERY, CIRCA 1791
There are some excellent engineering models, a triple epansion steam engine, a steam winch, a boiler and an Edison dynamo.
The item got my attention in the news papers was the 1:16 scale working demonstration aluminium and brass model of the Tunnelling Shield used to excavate the Rotherhithe Tunnel.
“On Sunday, April 17, the auction house is open noon-4pm, on April 18 9am-7.30pm, on April 19 9am-5pm and on the morning of the auction itself 9am-noon. Charles Miller Ltd is housed in the old post office at 25 Blythe Road, W14.”
From the Evening Standard and Hammersmith and Fulham News.
