Bekonscott

The other week my father was visiting so we took the family to see Bekonscott. You can find it just off the M40 a junction up from the M25.

“Bekonscot Model Village and Railway is the world’s oldest original model village, opening for the first time in 1929”

There are a massive number of houses, buildings and vehicles and the the path around the village means that you get a good look at it all from different angles. Between the houses there is a sophisticated rail network snaking through the landscape. For those who like their trains bigger there is also a 7.25” gauge light railway you can ride in.

I loved the details of the models and even spotted this traction engine working a threshing machine at a farm.

The burning house is also favourite but luckily the Bekonscott fire brigade were there to put it out.

I also spotted the village workshop where they are currently working on a big top to be added to a vacant lot on the hillside.
