The box is more fun than the toy
Whilst walking into work the other morning I passed down Bond Street. Due to the value of all the product the shops sell the window displays are typically empty which allows me to have a good look at the display stands that are being used. These are often fantstically crafted items that are often more interesting that the goods they are supporting.
Here’s a selection that I found interesting
The Graff display has a simplicity to it when empty, it almost cries out “you can’t afford me”
Not sure who these trees are but they are next door to Georg Jensen and they complement the framed wooden display case nicely.
This is a watch stand from Wempe, it is one of a pair that move backwards and forwards on a knurled rod.
The next two are not too far from each other and there is a distinct similarity in colour schemes.
There is also a similarity in the designs for the watch shops with dark wood and squared corners being in vogue.
The wire work in Tiffany window is a little varied but this one of the Pegasus was very good.
Of course, the Kings of window display have to be Fortnum and Mason and Louis Vuitton who at the moment both have impressive themed window displays although they are a bit challenging to photograph without getting run over.
