Simple garden bench – Finishing
As the bench was going outside I knew it would need some protection from the elements. The metal brackets that supported the legs were given a coat of Hammerite.
The top of the bench was sanded and then cleaned with some simple anti-bacterial spray. It’s slightly acidic so removes any oil or grease from the surface so that it takes any preservative better.
I also wanted to plug up the holes in the top. I decided on some rounded topped plugs as these would give the bench an appearance similar to a school gym bench. The plugs were tapped into the holes with a mallet.
