They say that the thing that separates the humans from the animals is the ability to make tools so I'm feeling all human at the moment.
Over the last couple of weekends, I've been working on a tool makers clamp, the coin in the image is a 5p (slightly smaller than a USA dime).

I have a few last things to finish:
- cleaning off a few marks added during the construction process;
- heat treating the clamps;
- bluing the clip (not yet mounted on the clamp)
I've a bit to read up on with regards the heat processes but I know the general principle. Once I've done that I'll be writing up about the clamps in more detail. The clamp will be used for making the flea circus chariot, I've purchased a small display case for the chariot and a coin to form a pedestal for it to be displayed on.

If you are looking for instructions on how to build such a clamp then you can find some in the Workshop Practice Series book "Making Small Workshop Tools", that's where I got my instructions from.
