Can’t find the light switch
It has been a whole week in the new shed and mostly been reorganising boxes and trying to find things. Also have been looking at what the most urgent repairs are, but mostly the focus has been on house maintenance as this has been sadly lacking from the previous occupants
There are a few of important things to do first on the workshop. One is improving the weather tightness. The side door has a missing corner and that’s lead to water getting in when it rains, so I’ll see if I can patch that. I’m also convinced that the front garage door will leak badly if the rain comes from the right direction so I’ll be adding some kind of skirt to the bottom of the door.
There is also the matter of security, I’ve added a new padlock to the side door and the bolt seems fairly hefty but the front door seems a bit flimsy so will be upgrading security there.
The last item is light. I can see that there are some cables running from a fuse box in the back part of the workshop but there doesn’t seem to be a switch or any light fittings. So I’ve added a solar powered shed light that was sent to me by Mal from Walton’s Sheds this consists of a small external panel which I’ve attached to the concrete using some expanding foam filler and and internal light which I’ve still to mount. Will give an update on how effective that is later.

Glad you’ve found a good use for the light, Andy – let us know how you get on with it!
All the best,
Mal
The charge seems to last a good while and the light is bright enough to find things at night. But really need more light to be able to work in the workshop after dark. There seems to be some old fixtures for fluorescent tubes which I’ll strip out and add in LED
