Migrating Greenhouse
Last night whilst listening to Storm Isha we heard a different sound. The sound of a greenhouse tumbling along like a giant salsola tragus.
At first we thought it had come to rest, wedged between a wall and the workshop. But about an hour later we heard it again and dashed out to ensure it wasn’t going to make it as far as the road
My preventative maintenance involved a large hammer, and knocking all of polycarbonate panels out of the frame. This reduced the area that the wind could blow against. The knocked out panels were stashed in the garage. Better to destroy the greenhouse than to have it blow into people or vehicles.
Some of the panels were bolted to the frame, a modification I had made after the last storm, so they were left. Some heavy planters were used to weight down the frame and 2 large rebar “tent pegs” were hammered down.
Checked on it in the morning and it was still where we left it, have to remove the remaining parts and dismantle the frame but we seem to have survived with no significant damage.

Metal sculpture in brass, mounted on an 1800s French Coin
Just reminded myself of the reason we’d bolted it to the patio. Unfortunately we’d not done as thorough a job when we moved it to a new location at the top of the garden.
